  • (a)

Immediately upon planting, trees shall be a minimum of 12 feet in height, with a caliper of two inches when measured at a point which is at least 12 inches above the existing grade. Trees shall have a minimum of five feet of clear trunk and a minimum of five feet of canopy spread.

    (b)

Palms shall contribute to no more than 50 percent of the required trees. Palms considered susceptible to lethal yellowing shall not be used to fulfill tree planting requirements. Palms must be a minimum of 12 feet in height and six feet of grey wood at time of planting. Royal palms are the designated village street tree and shall be planted in right-of-way buffers and entry features. However, if there is not sufficient space within the right-of-way buffer to accommodate distance requirements to avoid above ground utility wires, then alternate tree species may be utilized, preferably crepe myrtles, date palms, spindle palms, cabbage palms, poinciana trees and geiger trees.
